I've decided to start posting occasionally to a blog. I've wanted to do it for a long time, but I just never got around to it. It's one of my many resolutions for this year. I have some ideas for regular postings, much like the features in a magazine, but as with anything else, time will dictate how much posting I will be doing.
Upon reflecting upon last year, I decided on a few changes. Besides blogging, I've decided to start baking our own bread (like I used to do), not just to save money, but to add more whole grains in the spirit of the Mediterranean diet. I'll be testing and adding some good bread recipes. I expect that I'll be using my bread machine some of the time due to my travel schedule, but I also hope to make more free form loaves- I loved them during my "awakening" years in the 70s.
I'd also like to do more personal writing. I've been thinking of some plays based on actual events in Alaska history. I'm not revealing those yet until I publish in case this is being read by any unscrupulous idea thieves.
As soon as I finish this posting, I'm going downstairs to start one of my other resolutions- clean out and recycle my classroom materials. I'd like to get them into the hands of people who can use them.
The other more global plans involve more recycling and more activism on reducing energy use. Yesterday I put window films around the windows to block out the -10 degree cold. I'm planning on having an energy audit. I feel like I already do some of it, but it feels very arrogant to choose turning up the furnace when a sweater willl do, so I want to be more aware on a regular basis of choices. To do this, I need to research a little. For example, when I buy something more energy efficient, does the carbon cost of manufacture cancel the energy savings?
More later- I must figure out how to post photos and profile info.
