I'm only riding the couch cushions today, laid low by a nasty cold. Buckland had some serious illness going on- lots of absences and lots of people returning too soon. The kids love to touch my soft, gray hair- so different in texture and color than there own, so I'm afraid our physical boundary decreased and the virus just jumped.
I've added for your viewing pleasure a couple of photos by Gene McGill, a colleague of my husband's at ARSC (Arctic Region Supercomputing Center). Gene gave me permission to post these. They were taken at the start of the Yukon Quest Race, last Saturday, Feb. 9. As of today, frontrunners are in Dawson City. But don't take my word for it, check out the website.
Did I mention that I came to Alaska because when I was about 10, someone had an evening slideshow about dog racing in downtown Anchorage? It hooked me. In another life, I'll have dogs of my own. In the meantime, check out the rest of Gene's pictures for a short time longer.
