Home Again, Home Again, Lickety Split

Yes...I followed the midnight sun home on Thursday night and slept (sort of) in my own bed that night. Since then, I have been working my way through my list including finding the phone, rewiring the garage door to get my car out, buying groceries, washing bedding, sorting mail, reconnecting with friends in the order of their leaving for summer activities, mowing the lawn, getting out the bikes and going to the library.

I had lunch at Pike's with my Delta Kappa Gamma, Pi Chapter teacher friends yesterday on the deck. What an active bunch! Most are planning to spend time in their gardens, but travels include Africa, New Zealand, Chicago, 100 miles of the AT, Spain and Australia. Leah and I went to Hot Lick's for my first hot fudge sundae of the season (here, anyway) and I drove the truck home.

The earthquake, centered out only a few miles SW of here shook me awake at 5:30 am. I went with Gretchen to the Hospice Plant Sale and bought some hearty looking tomato plants and some seed potatoes. This afternoon, I'll be having crab and salads with the Ehnerts. Larry just received the BP Teacher of the Year award for 2009. Way to go Larry! Well deserved!

The weather is gorgeous right now, about 21 hours of practical daylight and above freezing, even at night. Even so, I think I'll wait another week for planting outside.

I will be posting videos from our hike tomorrow when Paul gets home with the camera. They should be pretty funny.

Welcome home Pat! It's good to hear that you've made it and have jumped right back into activity. We look forward to seeing you when things slow down for you.
