Hurrying to Relax

This week has been a blur and I feel rather guilty about not blogging. Besides, I missed it! I went to Anchorage on Tuesday on business, finding out about my new job. It turns out that I might be going to 5 different districts in the state, Yupiit, Lower Yukon, Northwest Arctic, Yukon-Koyukuk and Yukon Flats. I'll be working with groups or individual teachers on getting more efficient in teaching math. It should be an exciting job. At the beginning of Oct, I'll be in Mountain Village and Pilot Station.

Larry Ehnert turned 50. We went out to their house on Harding Lake, enjoying the beautiful view, hot tub, chicken-mushroom crepes, wine and good company. Happy Birthday, Larry!

Sunset over Harding Lake on Sept 5.

We're currently in one of my favorite places, the Anchorage airport, on our way to Wilma's 90th birthday party. My kids will both be there- it will be great to see them!

Putting a roof over the apartment door.

We spent quite a few weekend hours in the yard building a cover for the new door that will be cut in the side of the house for the new apartment. Since nothing is square, each roof 2x4 had to be measured and cut separately. Fortunately, I'm a trained professional.

On the way to Anchorage, we stopped at the Palmer Fair to eat pasties, elephant ears and frappuccino. We did some shopping and watched Mr. Whitekeys.

Looking good at the Palmer Fair.

The Chugach Mountains loom above the Fairgrounds.

Giving President Obama some advice about talking to students.

I LOVE that picutre of you and Pres. Obama! So funny. Glad to see that everything is going well. I did get your message about the camping pad and I'm so happy it got back to you. Something else that I'm happy about is that I had such a wonderful time in Fairbanks this summer. I am truly lucky to have such awesome friends! I'm still looking into the Literacy Conference and haven't forgotten about it. I'll let you know how things shape up! Talk soon!
