Alaskan Style Celebrations

On Father's Day, we were awakened to calls from our errant children- Erin in Chi-Town and Ben in Taipei.  It was a great way to start the day.  We went for our usual coffee and cinnamon rolls at Lulu's and a Sunday paper.  Then we drove with family as far as the Copper River Princess for dinner (about 280 miles) and then returned along the breath-taking Richardson Hwy.

Today was actually Solstice and our 28th anniversary.  We bicycled The Loop, 17 miles in the sunshine and 60 degree temps.  We stopped at Bun on the Run, the Musher's Hall and Creamer's Field.  We went to the grocery store for a salad bar lunch while we planned our Appalachian Trail food drops and made a shopping list.  This afternoon was consumed with odd tasks around the house and being out in the sunshine.

We finished off the day with dinner at the Thai House (does it seem like we moved between feedings all day?) where we saw the Pilons celebrating their 7th anniversary with all 4 kids (Lexie Lou is 11 days old).

Our last few minutes have been reading trail journals and looking at our tentative plans for the last 300 miles of the A.T.  Can't wait- it should be exciting.
