She resigned! Mid-term! Teachers don't do it and students don't do it. Apparently, a governor can do it which makes me glad again that I didn't throw away my vote on her. Her rambling explanations indicate a loose cannon decision-maker: nyah, nyah, nyah, because I want to, that's why! It amused me to hear commentators on the radio speculating on her "real" reasons- face it, she just didn't want to do it anymore. She has the same attention span that I do, but I'm smart enough to only sign on for a job 9 months at a time.
I tried to stay off my swollen ankle today- honest, I did. Brian and I picked up some sandbox sand this morning, but he didn't call me to help unload it. I'm beginning to design a quilt and did a recon trip to the fabric stores....I'll need to spend more time on putting it on a scale model to make sure I don't overspend on fabrics. I also read book(s) borrowed from the library. I hope they last through the weekend. The potato plants got weeded and my veggie planters were relocated to sunnier locations.
I updated Paul's trail journal and downloaded some free playwriting software from the BBC site. I started organizing some personal writing. The formatting has a learning curve though, so I just started to generalize when I needed a break.
First Friday was tonight. I only went to two galleries, including to the Annex to see Todd Sherman's animals, which were delightful. They only served juice and crackers though, so I had to eat dinner at home. I also went to Pioneer Park's gallery where I saw oceanic baskets and oil paintings of rectangles. The traffic "drove" me home after that where I am quietly admiring my painted fingernails, done during a moment of boredom.
I'm making tuna pasta salad for tomorrow's potluck after the Ester parade. I think I'll put it in a cooler to keep botulism at bay.
The next door neighbor cut down every tree (about 15) on his lot, exposing the naked reality of suburban living. His yard looks diminished and his house is revealed for all its faults. I can't do anything about it except sit in my cool, shady yard reflecting on the irony of buying a house in Alaska and cutting down all the trees to put in a lawn. I'm resigned to only looking north. I hope my shade stays in my own yard so he can feel some remorse for his bad decision.
