Hot Town, Summer in the City

Back of my neck feeling dirt and gritty.....

95 degrees? I'm not sure the bank marquees are right, but it is definitely hot outside, coupled with smoke from some pervasive fires. I think my next door neighbor got a citation for burning his trees today- at least I saw a fire chief with a clipboard making some notes while the fire in his yard burned. Yep, gotta love a neighbor who spreads ashes and smoke on the hottest day of the year.

Today was another bike day. I rode it to Aquasize, then downtown, then home again. I also rode it to replace the tips of Paul's trekking poles and to order the iPhone. I really worry about crossing streets- drivers (mainly on cell phones) don't seem to notice pedestrians or bikes when turning right on reds. It's scary. I want to smack their car hoods and hollar about paying attention. My only defense is to catch their eye before crossing. Oh, and I always wear my brain bucket, even if it's somewhat loose.

John and I went to the Princess for dinner- he wanted a Caesar salad. We were welcomed to Fairbanks. I guess they don't seat many locals. My burger was good (but overpriced) so I had to assuage my discontent with a Hot Licks sundae (also overpriced). I wonder if I've eaten more calories than I burned today? Too late... there's always tomorrow.
