Summer of my Discontent

I awoke after about 7 hours of sleep to go over and babysit for Michael and Meagan. We made sugar crystals, read stories, made an elaborate obstacle course including a cushion tunnel, ate French toast, played Wii and watched Madagascar. I had fun with those guys.

The clothes on the line were fully softened by Nature's fabric softener, rain, so I used the clothes dryer for the first time in weeks. I put a few things away in anticipation of Paul's return home tonight, but then I lost interest so he'll get to see like he never left. He's not feeling very well though, so my guess is that he'll eat and sleep for the first few days he's home and that will buy me more time. I made some blueberry muffins though to welcome him home at 1:30 am tomorrow.

I donated a few hours at the school district Fair booth before working as a cashier. I had a great time showing parents the school supply lists, calendar, bus routes and schedules, and lunch menus. The best part was talking to kids about their readiness for school on Monday. Almost every child was excited about school starting.

The Fair collected canned food today for a discount. Adults donating 4 cans of food had to pay $2 for a Fair ticket. Since a ticket has always been free with food in the past, there was a lot of griping. I seem to remember the Food Factory sponsoring this day in the past, that is, donating a sum to offset the free tickets. Anyway, change is good- you go first.
