I went to the doctor's office to see about the fatigue and muscle aches that drove me off the trail. I gave 5 vials of blood to check for liver function, anemia, inflammation and muscle conditions. He also told me to cease and desist taking Lipitor (for high cholestrol). Hopefully I'll get my perk back. I can hardly wait. I'm not used to lethargy and I miss the trail.
Today, Paul and I went out our land about 11 miles north of Fairbanks. We took the 4-wheeler to carry the chain saw and spent about an hour widening the road to make it easier to haul plywood on the trailer. I always walk but my trekking poles haven't arrived by mail yet so I used a ski pole. It was very inferior. We built a small (very small due to high fire danger) and cooked hotdogs on sticks for lunch with chips and carrots. We talked about the next work to be done- clearing away brush, building the floor, cutting more logs for support and joists. The rain was just starting when we stopped on the way home at Hilltop for a slice of apple pie a la mode. Ain't life grand?
The Relay for Life, support and fund raising for cancer research starts tonight at 6 at West Valley High School. The goal is to keep the track full of walkers all 24 hours. Come out and walk. It will really surprise you to see people you know who are cancer survivors. Money welcome, but not necessary.
This video was filmed on a bald (upland field) north of Pearisburg on April 12. It reminded me of the beautiful Appalachian Trail at its best.
