Another winter weekend in Fairbanks

Warm and wild- enjoying the Nanooks.

The weekend has been relaxing and fun....no Black Friday for us. I did a little online shopping, including a few Kiva gift certificates. I helped the Pilons clean their old house, enjoying the fun of the 3 little ones. Pam suggested that Carly wasn't little- just "fun-size".

The Nanook games (against the Northern Michigan wildcats) were both heart-pounding. Both games tied, then tied again in overtime and went to shootouts. We really got our money's worth. I enjoy the games because I empathize with the young players who give it their all, have pucks shot at their head, are targeted to get knocked down by the other players and then often, suffer the agony of defeat.

Some fan behavior that I don't understand: the adult who carries a stuffed polar bear to the game, the cad who shouts at the team over the plexiglas, the kids who shout "you suck" at the other team, adults who go back and forth to the snack bar walking in front of everyone during the game and the cussers.

The Alaska Nanook entertaining some young fans.

Facing off.
