My face is still warm from the walk downtown and back (about 9 miles roundtrip) with temps at -15. I was plenty warm with all my layers and it was great to get out into the low light/contrasty snow. My only issue is the two crescent blisters that formed on my heels from the forward slide of the felt liners in my boots. I'll have to fix that.
We ate at the Thai House (thanks Pam and Tim for the g.c.)- mild curry called Mus-A-Mun. The place was packed, even at 2 pm. That's a good advertisement for the food there.
Other news in our exciting life of being retired: We're continuing to work on the basement apartment...I'm priming the walls and my hands and Paul is building a wall around the new plumbing.
The background noise you hear is the dehydrator (thanks Wendy and Larry for the loan) where we have 3 trays of strawberry yogurt drying. They become chewy buttons of flavor. We'll take them on the Grand Canyon hikes in 5 weeks (hurray!). We're also putting together some other meals for the hike. We'll be assembling and trying brown rice, sun-dried tomatoes, pistachios, and vegetable soup mix. Just add hot water and put into a cozy and wait.
Erin, Ron and Paul at the Cookie Jar where we went for breakfast.
Hiking quilt made for us by Carol Cocker- can you find "Pound Hound"?
