In Between Raindrops

Last night I attended the Fairbanks Shakespeare Theater's performance of Two Gentlemen of Verona outside at UAF.  It was excellent- funny, musical and easy to understand.  The lead performer's voice was wonderful and he did some great spoofing of Elvis and Shakespeare.

It still wasn't raining this morning, so I rode my bike downtown to pick up some books at the district office.  Then I visited the always busy Pilon house where Pam was riding herd on her 4 kids and 2 more.  The kids were sleepy at 9 am, just getting up from a busy day yesterday at Pioneer Park and a picnic.

My legs are still achy, I thought from hiking, but it could be the new Shape-Up Skechers shoes I bought.  I finally watched the video (with workout sessions) and the claim is that walking in these shoes are like walking in sand.  The promotional video claims all kinds of things- tighter muscles, reduced cellulite, better circulation, weight loss, better posture.  I'm in favor of all of these things.  I'll get back with you but I think I can already tell that my buttocks are tighter.

I came home and ended up driving out to buy some Granny gear- namely a Flip camera.  I'll practice later and post the results on this very blog.

I'm co-planning a party for Bjorn, a friend coming back to Fairbanks for a visit from Norway.  I rented the pavilion on the river for drinks and desserts.  I hope there will be a good crowd.  It'll be good to see him again.

The lettuce and rhubarb are just bursting to be picked.  I better make something or freeze the rhubarb.  The summer is already going fast.  Principals are going back to work next week.  Good thing I'm retired....or sorta.
